Filby Builders
Meet the Filbys. We’re a Brighton family, building things differently. We believe great homes start with great relationships, which is why we’re big on kindness, honest pricing, and working together.
We’re professional about the work, relaxed about the process, and passionate about the results.
A Family You Can Trust
Founded by the late Bob Filby over 40 years ago, we are now a multi-generational family team led by brothers James and Mark, alongside their sister Sam.
We’re proud to be a family business; Mark’s daughters, Ellie and Kate, and Sam’s son, Ollie, are now key parts of our team. Joined by Fin and our "Two Toms"—who have been with us so long they feel like family anyway—we are a tight-knit group that actually cares about your home.
When we’re on-site, you aren't just hiring a crew of builders; you’re welcoming a family who takes immense pride in their work and their reputation.
Honest, Open, and No Surprises
The biggest worry shouldn't be the bill. We believe in "no-surprises" building, which is why our pricing is 100% transparent. From Hove to Haywards Heath, we provide clear, itemised quotes so you stay in total control of your budget.
Making the Extraordinary, Everyday
We don’t do "standard." We specialise in the homes that are a little bit out of the ordinary. Whether it’s a structural extension that opens up your kitchen to the sun, a loft conversion with a view, or a bespoke roof terrace for those Brighton summer nights, we bring your imagination to life.
Bespoke, Just for You
Every home is unique, and we think your build should be too. We work hand-in-hand with you and your architects to make sure everything—from the major structural steels to the hand-finished carpentry—is safe, compliant, and beautiful.
No job is too big or too small; we bring the same level of care and "Filby flair" to every single corner of your home.
Would do it all again tomorrow!
We would highly recommend Filby's... who converted "The Granary" into our beautiful family home.
The entire process was a pleasure from start to finish.
Their work was entirely faultless, a truly great company - professional, reliable, and a joy to work with them all. Would do it all again tomorrow !!!
